Crushing is one process that makes large pieces of material into small pieces and produce new surface. It uses the external forces (human power, mechanical force, electric power, chemical energy, atomic energy or other methods,etc.) pressing on crushed material, to overcome the cohesive forces of the material, and makes the large pieces of material division.

Due to the different crushing ways, different types of crushing equipment, and the crushing particle size, the crush will be divided into two types: crushing and grinding. The crushing is also divided into three types including primary crushing, medium crushing and fine crushing. The grinding is also divided into three types including coarse grinding, fine grinding and superfine grinding. According to the material particle size, the above classification can be divided into the following types:

Primary crushing—Before crushing, the particle size is 1500-300mm, and after crushing, the particle size is 350-100mm;

Medium crushing—Before crushing, the particle size is 350-100mm, and after crushing, the particle size is 100-20mm;

Fine crushing—Before crushing, the particle size is 100-50mm, and after crushing, the particle size of 15-5 mm;

Coarse grinding—the materials will be grinded into around 0.1 m;

Fine grinding— the materials will be grinded into around 60μm;

Superfine grinding—the materials will be grinded into around 5μm or less.
